Shortlisted in the One Dance UK Awards 2026
Anwen Davies of Rubicon Dance shortlisted in the Dance for Health category in the One Dance UK Awards 2026
The One Dance UK Awards took place at Bradford Live on Saturday February 7th 2026. The evening was presented by One Dance UK Chief Executive Andrew Hurst alongside Sabbiyah Pervez, Reporter for BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, The event was attended by Tracey Brown, Stakeholder Manager and Anwen Davies, Dance Leader, Rubicon Dance.
In 2021 Wales Wide Training Programme, managed by Rubicon Dance won the Dance Advocacy Award and in 2022 Rubicon won the Community Champion Award. This year we were very excited to hear that Anwen Davies had been shortlisted in the Dance for Health category alongside Natalie Hall, Fireflies Fitness and Scottish Ballet (SB Health). Anwen didn't win an award but what an incredible achievement for her to be shortlisted!
"It was such an honour to be shortlisted and be at the awards ceremony, with so many talented and inspiring people from the dance community across the UK. I managed to talk with some inspirational people and one I am hoping to meet up with to do future projects together. Thank you so much." - Anwen Davies, Dance Leader, Rubicon Dance
We were treated to a tour of Bradford Arts Centre which is stunning followed by a panel discussion which focused on Environment and Sustainability
The awards evening was full to capacity with so many inspirational people doing such great work in the UK wide dance sector. We were so happy to be a part of this and in fact the only Wales based organisation in attendance. It felt particularly special to have made a shortlist in Rubicon's 50th Anniversary year.
There were several categories to the awards including the prestigious Jane Attenborough Award. Our Stakeholder Manager at Rubicon was honoured to be asked to present the winner of the People's Choice Award which went to Motionhouse.
During the awards we shared our table with Cheshire Dance and Fireflies Fitness and we also chatted with colleagues from across the dance sector including some new connections, whilst advocating for Rubicon's work, especially in our milestone year.
Audiences were treated to brilliant and inspiring performances from Bradford’s very own breakers, Clean North Crew, followed by Kathak and Contemporary movement artistry from the incredible Rhythmosaic. The evening closed on a high with the high-energy Bhangra sounds of Punjabi Roots & MC, who had the entire room dancing and celebrating together.
The team from One Dance UK were incredibly warm and welcoming and our presence at the awards has hopefully continued to develop Rubicon's long standing relationship with One Dance UK.
"We were delighted that Rubicon Dance could be a part of the One Dance UK Awards this year. Congratulations to Anwen Davies, Dance Leader at Rubicon Dance who was shortlisted for the Dance for Health Award, and a heartfelt thank you to Tracey Brown, Stakeholder Manager at Rubicon Dance, who was one of the esteemed judges for the Awards again this year and presented the People’s Choice Award during the ceremony." - Rebecca Bertram, Project Manager, One Dance UK
