Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts
*In some circumstances we may be able to offer a shorter, one year full time “top up” course for candidates who need to develop their triple threat by improving their dance skills.
This course is a Level 3 Pathway for those who wish to pursue a career in dance. It is designed to adequately prepare students for vocational, degree or conservatoire-level dance training. It is fully accredited by Cardiff and Vale College.
The programme has a practical focus on dance technique, performance, creative work and dance appreciation. Theory is directly related to what is experienced in practical sessions.
Students will be with us five days a week, and over two years you will study a wide range of topics including:
Anatomy and Safe Dance Practice
Body Conditioning, Fitness, Pilates and Yoga
Creative Movement & Improvisation
Choreography and Performance
The Dance Sector and Professional Practice
Students will develop improvisation and choreographic skills, as well as learn a wide range of repertoire. There are frequent opportunities to perform, work with guest choreographers and attend workshops and performances. Students will also have free access to the full range of Rubicon’s open dance classes including Tap, Street, Ballet and Contemporary, if you wish to top up your skills.
Learners gain valuable performance and work experience at Wales’ largest employer in the dance sector, also receiving individual support and career guidance. The course provides exceptional dance training, in a professional working environment for young people with talent and drive.
