*In some circumstances we may be able to offer a shorter, one year full time “top up” course for candidates who need to develop their triple threat by improving their dance skills.


ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is a Level 3 Pathway for those who wish to pursue a career in dance. It is designed to adequately prepare students for vocational, degree or conservatoire-level dance training. It is fully accredited by Cardiff and Vale College. 

The programme has a practical focus on dance technique, performance, creative work and dance appreciation. Theory is directly related to what is experienced in practical sessions.


WHAT YOU WILL STUDY

Students will be with us five days a week, and over two years you will study a wide range of topics including:

  • Anatomy and Safe Dance Practice

  • Body Conditioning, Fitness, Pilates and Yoga

  • Ballet

  • Contemporary

  • Jazz

  • Street

  • Creative Movement & Improvisation

  • Choreography and Performance

  • Community Dance

  • The Dance Sector and Professional Practice

Students will develop improvisation and choreographic skills, as well as learn a wide range of repertoire. There are frequent opportunities to perform, work with guest choreographers and attend workshops and performances. Students will also have free access to the full range of Rubicon’s open dance classes including Tap, Street, Ballet and Contemporary, if you wish to top up your skills. 


WHY CHOOSE US

Learners gain valuable performance and work experience at Wales’ largest employer in the dance sector, also receiving individual support and career guidance. The course provides exceptional dance training, in a professional working environment for young people with talent and drive. Students are required to provide volunteering hours in addition to study hours, further expanding their options of careers in the sector. Students will have opportunities to work with guest choreographers during workshops and commissioned pieces with performance opportunities throughout the course.

On completing your course/courses with Rubicon graduates/alumni have access to bespoke and unique opportunities to aid their career development through work placements, access to apprenticeships and performance work.

    In December we hosted our first digital fundraiser, Rubicon’s Salsa-thon. 33 participants joined in with a fun, festive afternoon learning Salsa steps with Rubicon’s Paul Davies.
