As a short summary, I have been performing as a professional dancer for 16 years and running my own dance company Watkins Dance Company for ten years receiving Arts Council England funding for various projects. As a dancer working with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, Tavaziva Dance (company dancer 10 years), Jamiel Laurence, Phoenix Dance Theatre (CC Lab), Motionhouse, Thea Barnes, Neville Campbell and more. As well as performing and choreographing, I have been working on dance film projects and guest teaching/choreographing all over the UK. Most recently Programme Coordinator for Centre for Advanced Training (Swindon Dance) of which now I am the Core Contemporary Tutor.

During the lockdown, I launched a platform for freelance artists' theArtists' creating a website database of artists from cross art forms working within contemporary dance to support a network profiling professional. I have also worked with Jamiel Laurence as a Dance Artist on his new initiative #FundFreelanceDance - which provided professional opportunities for freelance artists to get back into paid work during/after Covid-19. This was an amazing moment to collaborate with other artists, and the result was a short dance film.

This initiative working with Jamiel led me to a new opportunity with Rubicon, highlighting how much #FundFreelanceDance has accomplished for artists like myself. Such an incredible journey already!

Rubicon has a lot of creativity and is open to new ideas, which is very inspiring. I am the Rehearsal Director for Rubicon Dance Company, and the experience is taking me on the most exciting journey!

I have worked in many roles within the dance industry, and I am still very much involved in a variety of these. However, the new role as Rehearsal Director working with Rubicon Dance Company feels very meant to be in my soul and this stage of my career.

Working towards brilliant productions with Rubicon Dance Company, performing and new choreographic projects as a freelancer, and many more exciting moments to come that I cannot predict, which is what it is all about!
